The Utopian World Championship. Event #1

Introduction to the project by Jon Brunberg

In March next year, The Utopian World Championship (UWC) celebrates its tenth birthday. Since the launch in 2001, the project has produced two utopian champions and resulted in a series of events ranging from galas and conferences to lectures, tours and exhibitions. The winning essays have been printed and distributed to Heads of State, NGO:s and other institutions all over the world.

In this introduction to the project, which is the opening event featuring the UWC at the Knot, the artist Jon Brunberg -- initiator and project manager together with Annika Drougge - will explain its core concept, the underlying ideas and artistic methods, and present some events and competitors from its history, as well as the new edition of the winning essays that was printed in 2009.
